Forcing a Knowledge Re-publish
If you've updated your knowledge base and want to make sure the live AI is using the latest content, you can force a knowledge publish at any time. Here's how.
When to force a re-publish
A knowledge re-publish ensures the latest content in your knowledge base is live. Do this when:
- You've made significant knowledge changes and want to confirm they're live.
- A caller reported receiving outdated information and you want to refresh the AI's content.
- You've added new FAQs, updated business info, or changed opening hours in the knowledge base.
- Some time has passed since your last publish and you want to be sure the content is current.
How to trigger a knowledge publish
- Go to AI Receptionists → [Your AI] → Knowledge Base.
- Open any knowledge article or the knowledge base overview.
- Click Publish (the button may appear in the top-right or as part of a Save Changes banner).
- Wait for the publishing modal to show Published Successfully!
Alternatively, a full publish (from any AI settings page using the Publish button) includes the knowledge base as part of its process. However, this also publishes greetings, personality, tools, and voice settings — which is fine, but takes slightly longer.
Knowledge-only publish vs full publish
If you want to push only knowledge changes without touching other AI settings, use the knowledge-specific publish from the Knowledge Base section. This is faster and avoids any chance of accidentally re-pushing a different section.
If you want to push everything at once, use the full publish from the main AI settings.
Verifying the publish worked
After publishing, make a test call and ask your AI a question that relates to the content you just updated. If the AI answers correctly with the new content, the publish was successful.
If the AI still gives old information after publishing, wait a minute and try again — sometimes the AI on your test call started before the publish completed. Start a fresh call to be sure.
⚠️ Important: Publish is not automatic when you save knowledge changes. Saving drafts in the dashboard does not change what the live AI knows. Always publish after significant content updates.
