Edit a customer profile when the customer's saved name, email, phone number, tags, or notes need to be corrected. Keeping profiles accurate helps your team find customers faster and helps the AI Agent recognise returning callers by phone number.
Open the customer from the Customers page, then make changes from the customer detail sheet.
What you can edit
The Details tab lets you edit these areas:
| Area | What you can change |
|---|---|
| Customer Name | First name and last name |
| Customer email address | |
| Phone | Customer phone number |
| Customer Tags | Tags assigned to the customer |
| Notes | Team notes about the customer |
Each section has its own Edit action. After changing a field, use Save to keep the change or Cancel to discard it.
Editing the customer's name
Select Edit beside Customer Name. Speako shows separate fields for First Name and Last Name.
Both name fields are required when editing the name. If either field is empty, Speako shows First name and last name are required.
Editing email or phone
Use the Edit action beside Email or Phone to update contact details. If there is no saved value, the profile shows No email or No phone.
Use a real, current phone number whenever possible. Phone number is used when the AI Agent checks whether a caller is a returning customer.
⚠️ Important: Changing a phone number can affect future returning-caller recognition. Confirm the number with the customer before replacing it.
Editing notes
The Notes section is for team context your staff may need later. Use it for practical information that helps staff serve the customer, such as preferences or follow-up reminders.
Avoid putting sensitive information in notes unless your business has a clear policy for handling it.
Editing tags
In Customer Tags, use the plus button to open the tag selector. You can add or remove tags and then save the selection. Tags can also be created from the selector if the right tag does not exist yet.
Tags update the way the customer appears in the customer list and in customer-tag management views.
Deactivating instead of editing
The customer list includes a delete action labelled Delete Customer in the confirmation dialog, but the action deactivates the customer rather than permanently erasing the profile. The confirmation says Are you sure you want to deactivate this customer? This action can be undone later.
Use deactivation when the profile should no longer appear in the normal active list. Use editing when the customer is still active but the saved information is wrong.
