Auto-Translation & Restoring Original Greetings

Learn how Speako automatically translates your greetings when you change languages, and how to restore the original text if needed.

How Auto-Translation Works

When you change your primary language in Voice & Languages settings, Speako automatically translates all your greetings to match the new language. This happens because:

💡 Why auto-translation is essential:

💡 Your AI voice is optimized for a specific language. A Hindi voice reading English text will pronounce English words with a Hindi accent—which sounds unnatural and confuses callers. By auto-translating greetings to match the voice's native language, your AI sounds natural and professional.

What Gets Translated

The following greetings are automatically translated when you change your primary language:

  • Initial Greeting (First-Time Callers)
  • Return Customer Greeting
  • After-Hours Greeting
  • Call Recording Disclosure

What Gets Preserved

When greetings are auto-translated:

  • Original text is saved in the background
  • Original language is recorded
  • Translation status is tracked This allows you to restore the original at any time.

Identifying Auto-Translated Greetings

After changing your primary language, you'll see indicators on each greeting card:

The badge shows:

  • "Auto-translated from [language]" - indicating the source language
  • A Restore original button to revert if needed

Restoring Original Greetings

To restore a greeting to its original text:

  1. Navigate to Agent Settings > Greetings
  2. Find the greeting with the "Auto-translated" badge
  3. Click Restore original
  4. Confirm your decision

    💡 ⚠️ Warning: Language Mismatch

💡 Restoring the original text means your greeting will be in a different language than your current voice setting. For example, if you:

💡 - Changed your voice to Japanese

💡 - Restore an English greeting

💡

💡 Your AI will speak English words with a Japanese accent. This creates a poor experience for callers.

💡

💡 Only restore if you're also planning to change your voice/language back to match.

When to Use Restore

Restore is useful when:

  • You're switching back to your original language
  • You want to start fresh and re-customize the greeting
  • The AI translation needs significant changes and you prefer to re-translate

Manual Editing After Translation

You can edit auto-translated greetings at any time:

  1. Click on the greeting text to edit
  2. Make your changes
  3. Save the greeting Once you manually edit:
  • The "Auto-translated" badge disappears
  • The greeting is now considered your custom text
  • The original text remains preserved for potential future restoration
  • Setting Your Primary Language
  • Initial Greeting (First-Time Callers)
  • Return Customer Greeting
