Changes to tools need to be saved and published before they take effect. This article explains the save and publish workflow.
Save vs. Publish
Save
Saving stores your configuration in the system but doesn't make it live:
- Configuration is recorded
- Status shows as "Configured"
- AI agent doesn't use the new settings yet
Publish
Publishing activates your saved configuration:
- Settings become live
- AI agent uses new tool configuration
- Status shows as "Published"
The Save Changes Banner
When you make changes, a banner appears at the bottom of the page:
- Shows how many tools have unsaved changes
- Provides action buttons:
Discard — Cancel all changes
Save — Save without publishing
Save & Publish — Save and go live immediately
When to Save Only
Save without publishing when:
- You're still making changes
- You want to review before going live
- You need another team member to approve
- You're preparing changes for a specific time
When to Save & Publish
Save and publish together when:
- Changes are complete and tested
- You want immediate effect
- Simple enable/disable changes
Publishing Process
When you click Save & Publish:
- All pending changes are saved
- Tool configurations are synced to the AI system
- Agent instructions are updated
- Status changes to "Published"
- Changes take effect immediately
Discarding Changes
To undo pending changes:
- Click Discard in the save banner
- Confirm the action
- All unsaved changes are reverted
Status Flow
Best Practices
- Review changes before publishing
- Test after publishing
- Make changes during low-traffic times when possible
Status Meaning Blank Never configured Configured Saved but not published Published Live and active
