The Holidays feature lets you automatically close your business on national holidays. This article explains how to add holiday closures to your schedule.
Accessing Holiday Settings
- Navigate to Availabilities in the sidebar
- Click the Holidays tab
- You'll see a list of national holidays for your location's country
How Holidays Work
Holidays are based on your location's country setting (determined by your timezone). The system automatically knows:
- Which holidays apply to your region
- The correct dates for each year
- Whether holidays are fixed or variable (like Easter) When you enable a holiday, your business is marked as closed for that entire day.
Enabling a Holiday
To close for a specific holiday:
- Find the holiday in the list
- Toggle the switch to On
- The holiday is now enabled as a closure Changes save automatically after a brief delay. You don't need to click a separate save button.
Common Holidays
Depending on your country, you might see holidays like:
United States:
New Year's Day
Independence Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas Day United Kingdom:
New Year's Day
Easter Monday
Christmas Day
Boxing Day Australia:
New Year's Day
Australia Day
ANZAC Day
Christmas Day Your holiday list reflects your specific country's national holidays.
What Happens When a Holiday is Enabled
When you enable a holiday:
- Bookings blocked — No one can book for that date
- AI agent informed — Your agent knows you're closed and will tell callers
- Booking page updated — The date shows as unavailable
- Existing bookings unaffected — Previously made bookings remain (you may need to handle these manually)
Holidays vs Date-Specific Hours
| Feature | Holidays | Date-Specific Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic dates | ✓ Yes | ✗ No |
| Country-aware | ✓ Yes | ✗ No |
| Recurring annually | ✓ Yes | ✗ No |
| Partial hours | ✗ No | ✓ Yes |
| Custom dates | ✗ No | ✓ Yes |
Use Holidays for recognized national holidays where you close completely. Use Date-Specific Hours for custom dates or when you want modified hours instead of closure.
Holiday Hours Instead of Closure
If you're open with reduced hours on a holiday (like Christmas Eve):
- Keep the holiday disabled in the Holidays tab
- Add a date-specific override with your holiday hours
- This gives you more control over exact times
Planning Ahead
Review your holiday settings before each major holiday period:
- Check which holidays are coming up
- Enable the ones you'll be closed
- For holidays with special hours, use date-specific overrides instead
💡 Tip: Do this at least a week in advance so customers see accurate availability.
