Categories let you group related services together so customers can browse your booking page more easily. Instead of scrolling through a flat list of every service you offer, customers see logical groups — things like Haircuts, Colour, or Treatments — and can find what they need faster. This article explains how to create categories and what to consider when setting them up.

What categories are for

Categories are display groups. They don't change how a service is booked or priced — they just help organise what customers see. A service can belong to one or more categories, and a category can contain as many services as you like.

Your AI Agent doesn't rely on categories to identify services, but customers browsing your booking page will see services organised by them.

Opening the Categories page

From your dashboard, go to Services, then select Categories in the navigation. You'll see all your existing categories displayed as cards, each showing the category name, colour, and a preview of the services inside it.

If you haven't created any categories yet, the page will show an empty state with a prompt to create your first one.

Creating a new category

Select Add Category. A modal will open where you give the category a name and assign it a colour.

The helper text in the form is a good prompt: Categories group services like Haircut, Color, or Treatments — shown on your public booking page. Keep names short, clear, and familiar to your customers.

Name is required. Pick something descriptive that customers will recognise immediately.

Colour is used on the category card in your dashboard. It's a visual organiser for you and your team — it doesn't necessarily appear to customers in the same way, but it helps you distinguish categories at a glance when managing your service list.

Select Add Category (or Creating... while it saves) to create the category.

💡 Tip: Create your main categories before adding lots of services — it's easier to assign a service to a category at creation time than to go back and assign them individually later.

Editing a category

Each category card in the Categories page has an Edit Category option. Select it to update the category name or colour. Save your changes when done.

Renaming a category updates it everywhere — all services assigned to it will reflect the new name on your booking page.

Deleting a category

Each category card also has a Delete Category option. You'll be asked to confirm, and the prompt makes clear this action cannot be undone.

⚠️ Important: Deleting a category removes the category itself, but it does not delete the services that were in it. Those services remain in your system — they just won't have that category assigned anymore. You can reassign them to another category from their Service Details tab.

How many categories should you create?

There's no fixed rule, but fewer well-named categories are usually better than many narrow ones. A booking page with five clear categories is easier to navigate than one with fifteen. If you only have a handful of services, you may not need categories at all.

Start with the groups that make intuitive sense for your customers, then add more if needed.
