Assigning services to categories determines how your booking page is organised for customers. A service without a category will still be bookable, but it won't appear under any group heading — which can make it harder to find. This article covers how to assign and manage category assignments.

Assigning a category when creating a service

The easiest time to assign a category is when you first create a service. The Add Service form includes an optional Categories field. Select one or more categories from the list and the assignment is saved when you create the service.

If you haven't created any categories yet, this field will be empty. You can always come back and assign a category after you've created both the service and the category.

Assigning or changing a category on an existing service

Open the service from your Services list, then go to the Service Details tab. The Category field shows the current assignment.

Select the edit button next to the category field, choose the appropriate category from the available options, then Save Changes.

💡 Tip: If a service fits more than one category — for example, a Scalp Treatment might belong to both Treatments and Hair — you can assign it to multiple categories. It will appear under each group on your booking page.

Removing a category assignment

To remove a service from a category, open the Service Details tab and edit the Category field. Deselect the current category and save. The service remains in your system but will no longer appear under that category on your booking page.

Viewing which services are in a category

The Categories page (Services → Categories) shows each category as a card with a preview of the services assigned to it. The card also shows a count of how many services belong to the category.

This is the quickest way to audit your category structure and spot services that may be in the wrong group or missing a category entirely.

What happens to services with no category

Services that don't belong to any category are still bookable — they'll appear on your booking page, just not under a category heading. Depending on how many services you have, this can make things feel unorganised for customers. It's worth assigning at least a broad category to every service once you have categories set up.

Deleting a category doesn't delete its services

If you delete a category, all the services that were assigned to it remain in your system. They simply lose that category assignment. You can reassign them to another category at any time from their Service Details tab.

⚠️ Important: After deleting a category, check your booking page to confirm the affected services are still easy to find. Services without a category won't be grouped, which may affect how your page looks to customers.
