Changing a Member Role

If you need to adjust what level of access a team member has, you can change their role from the Team Members settings page. Only the Owner can change roles.

Who can change roles

Only the Owner of the business can change another team member's role. Admins and Members do not have this capability.

How to change a team member's role

  1. Go to Settings → Team Members.
  2. Find the team member whose role you want to change.
  3. In their row, click Change Role.
  4. A panel opens showing the available roles: Admin and Member, each with a list of what that role can and cannot do.
  5. Select the desired role.
  6. Confirm the change.

The team member's role updates immediately. Their badge in the list will reflect the new role.

What the roles can do

Admin:

  • Can edit business name and info
  • Can manage bookings and scheduling
  • Can configure the AI agent
  • Cannot invite or remove team members

Member:

  • Can manage bookings and scheduling
  • Can configure the AI agent
  • Cannot edit business name or info
  • Cannot invite or remove team members

For a full comparison, see Owner, Admin, and Member Roles.

Can you change the Owner's role?

No. The Owner's role cannot be changed — there is always exactly one Owner per business. The Owner row does not show a Change Role option.

Can you change your own role?

No. You cannot change your own role. The Change Role button is hidden for your own account row.

Does a role change take effect immediately?

Yes. The team member's new permissions apply as soon as the change is confirmed. They don't need to log out and back in — the next action they take in the dashboard will reflect their new role.

💡 Tip: If a staff member moves into a management position and needs to edit business details, upgrade them from Member to Admin. If they leave a management role, downgrade them back to Member to restrict access appropriately.

⚠️ Important: Downgrading an Admin to Member immediately removes their ability to edit business information. Make sure this is intentional before confirming the change.
