Staff members provide services to customers. This article explains how to assign which services each staff member can offer.

Why Assign Services?

Not all staff can provide all services:

  • A colorist specializes in hair coloring, not cuts
  • A massage therapist might only do Swedish massage
  • A junior stylist might not do advanced treatments Assigning services ensures customers only book staff who can perform what they need.

Accessing Service Assignments

  1. Navigate to Staff and open the staff member's profile
  2. Go to the Services tab
  3. You'll see all services and which are assigned

Assigning Services

To add services a staff member can provide:

  1. Open the Services tab
  2. Find the service you want to assign
  3. Check the box or toggle to assign it
  4. The service is now linked to this staff member When adding new staff, all services are typically selected by default. You can then uncheck services they don't offer.

Removing Services

To remove a service from a staff member:

  1. Open the Services tab
  2. Find the assigned service
  3. Uncheck or toggle it off
  4. The staff member can no longer be booked for this service

Service Details

Each service shows:

  • Name — The service name
  • Duration — How long the service takes
  • Price — The service cost
  • Category — The service category This helps you verify you're assigning the correct services.

Bulk Operations

If you need to update many services at once:

  1. Select multiple services
  2. Use bulk assign or remove options if available
  3. Save all changes together

Impact on Bookings

When services are assigned:

  • Customers can book this staff member for those services

  • Your AI agent offers this staff member for matching service requests

  • The staff appears in service-specific availability When services are removed:

  • Existing bookings are NOT automatically cancelled

  • No new bookings for that service with this staff

  • Other staff can still provide the service

Common Assignment Patterns

All Services

Staff who can do everything:

  • Assign all services
  • They appear for any booking request

Specialty Services

Staff who specialize:

  • Assign only their specialty services
  • They only appear for matching requests

Training/Mentorship

Junior staff learning new services:

  • Start with basic services
  • Add advanced services as they qualify

New Services

When you add a new service to your business:

  1. The service exists but isn't assigned to anyone yet
  2. Go to each staff member who can provide it
  3. Assign the new service
  4. Now customers can book it

    💡 Tip: When creating a new service, consider which staff can provide it and assign immediately.

Service Categories

Services are often grouped by category (e.g., "Haircuts", "Treatments", "Coloring"). When assigning:

  • Review entire categories staff can handle
  • Assign all services in a category at once if appropriate

Verifying Assignments

To check a service is properly assigned:

  1. Open the staff member's Services tab
  2. Confirm the service is checked/assigned
  3. Test by trying to book that service
  4. The staff member should appear as an option

Best Practices

  1. Be accurate — Only assign services staff can actually perform
  2. Update promptly — Add services when staff get trained
  3. Review periodically — Verify assignments are current
  4. Train before assigning — Staff should be competent before offering services
