Use table editing when you need to rename a table, adjust its seating range, or change the zone it belongs to. These details affect how your team manages bookings and how Speako understands which party sizes can fit at each table.
Open the table you want to edit
Go to Tables in the dashboard and find the table in the list. You can use the search bar to search by table name, capacity, or zone. The search field says Search tables by name, capacity, or zone....
Select the edit icon in the table's Actions column. This opens the Edit Table form.
What you can change
The edit form includes the same core fields used when creating a table:
Table Name — update the name shown in the table list and floor plan.
Min Capacity — the smallest party size the table should normally take.
Max Capacity — the largest party size the table can take.
Zone Tag — optional. You can assign one zone, remove the current zone, or switch the table to another zone.
The form description says Update table information and zone assignments.
Capacity validation
Speako checks that:
- Table name is filled in
- Minimum capacity is a positive number
- Maximum capacity is a positive number
- Minimum capacity is not greater than maximum capacity
If any value is invalid, the form shows an error before saving.
💡 Tip: If you are changing both capacity and zone, update them together in the same edit session. It avoids a moment where the table is saved with only half the intended change.
Save your changes
Select Save Changes. While Speako saves, the button changes to Saving.... When the update is complete, you'll see Table updated successfully.
Changes are reflected in the table list immediately. The floor-plan editor also reloads table information, so renamed tables and capacity updates are available there too.
Editing from the floor-plan editor
The floor-plan editor also has an Edit Table panel when you select a table on the canvas. That panel is useful for visual choices such as shape and rotation, and it can also update the table name and maximum capacity.
For everyday table setup, the main Tables page is clearer because it shows minimum capacity, maximum capacity, and zone assignment together.
What editing does not do
Editing a table does not automatically change existing bookings. If a guest has already been assigned to a table, review that booking separately if the capacity change affects whether the table is still suitable.
Editing a table also does not place it on the floor plan. To arrange tables visually, open Floor Plan from the Tables page and drag the table onto the canvas.
