Use the Zone Tags page to keep your restaurant seating areas organised. You can search zones, edit their names or colours, see which tables use them, and delete zones you no longer need.
Open the Zone Tags page
From the dashboard, go to Tables → Zone Tags.
The page shows zone cards. Each card includes the zone's name, colour, table count, and a preview of assigned tables. If no tables are assigned, the card shows No tables assigned.
Use Search zones if you have many areas and want to find one quickly.
Edit a zone tag
Select a zone tag to open Edit Zone Tag. You can update its name or colour.
The edit hint says: Zone tags group tables by area like Patio, Indoor, or VIP.
Save the change when you're done. The updated zone appears anywhere it is used, including the Tables list and the Zone Tags page.
💡 Tip: Rename zones carefully if your team already uses them during service. A small wording change can confuse staff if the old name is still used on the floor.
Delete a zone tag
Deleting a zone removes it from every table that uses it. It does not delete the tables themselves.
The delete confirmation says:
Delete Zone Tag
Are you sure you want to delete this zone tag? This will remove it from all tables that use it. This action cannot be undone.
Choose Delete only when you're sure the area label is no longer needed.
⚠️ Important: If you delete a zone, review the affected tables afterwards. They will remain available, but they will no longer be grouped under that seating area.
Keep zones simple
Zones work best when they describe real areas in your venue. Avoid creating too many. If your restaurant team would not naturally say the zone name out loud, it may be too detailed.
Good zone names:
- Patio
- Indoor
- Bar
- VIP
- Upstairs
Less useful zone names:
- Quiet if possible
- Good for couples
- Large booking section
Those examples describe preferences or booking rules rather than fixed areas. Use capacity ranges and staff judgement for those instead.
Audit zones regularly
As your layout changes, check Zone Tags and Tables together:
- Look for zones with no tables assigned
- Check tables with no zone
- Rename zones if your team has changed the way they refer to areas
- Delete zones only after confirming no one still uses that seating label
