The floor-plan editor saves your restaurant layout with the Save Canvas button. There is not a separate Publish button in the current editor, so the key habit is simple: save the canvas before leaving after any layout change.
What Save Canvas does
Save Canvas stores the visual layout for the active floor. This includes placed tables, walls, separators, fixtures, zone badges, labels, rotation, and positioning.
When saving starts, the button changes to Saving.... When it succeeds, Speako shows Floor plan saved successfully.
If there is no active floor selected, Speako shows No floor selected. If the canvas is still loading, Speako may show Canvas is not ready yet or Canvas not initialized.
When to save
Save after any meaningful layout change, including:
- Moving tables
- Adding or removing tables from the canvas
- Changing table shape or rotation
- Adding walls or separators
- Adding fixtures such as doors, windows, bar, kitchen, restroom, cashier, POS, or plants
- Adding zone badges
- Renaming, rotating, or recolouring visual elements
- Creating or editing floors
⚠️ Important: The editor does not save every drag automatically. If you rearrange the floor plan and leave without selecting Save Canvas, your changes may not remain.
Creating and editing floors
Use the floor selector at the top of the editor to switch floors or choose Create Floor. The create panel asks for Floor Name, with a placeholder such as e.g., Ground Floor, Level 1....
Use Edit Floor to rename or delete the current floor. Deleting a floor asks for confirmation:
Delete Floor
Are you sure you want to delete “[floor name]”? This will remove all zones and tables on this floor. This action cannot be undone.
⚠️ Important: Deleting a floor removes the visual layout for that floor. It does not mean every table in your restaurant has been deleted from the main Tables list.
What “publishing” means here
Some help topics refer to publishing because many businesses think of a floor plan as something that needs to be made live. In the current Speako editor, there is no separate publish step. Saving the canvas is the action that keeps the layout available for the restaurant location.
If your account uses AI Agent knowledge updates for restaurant layout or table information, review the relevant AI Agent knowledge settings after major seating changes.
Quick final check
Before you save, zoom out visually and scan the whole layout:
- Is the correct floor selected?
- Are all expected tables placed?
- Are table names readable?
- Are zone badges in the right areas?
- Did you remove any old table placements you no longer need?
Then select Save Canvas.
