The floor-plan editor lets you turn your restaurant tables into a visual layout. Use it to place tables, add walls and fixtures, label areas with zone badges, and build a layout your team can recognise during service.

Before you open the editor

Create your tables first from Tables. The editor uses existing tables as building blocks. If there are no tables yet, the editor's table panel will show No tables found and link you back to Go to Tables →.

The editor is designed for tablet and desktop. On smaller devices, Speako shows a desktop/tablet message because arranging a floor plan needs drag-and-drop precision.

Open the floor plan

From Tables, select Floor Plan.

If no floor exists yet, use Initialize Default Area to create the first editable area. You can also use the floor selector to Create Floor when building multi-floor layouts.

Once a floor is active, the header shows:

  • The current floor name
  • Edit Mode
  • Save Canvas
  • Edit Floor
  • The location selector

Add items to the canvas

The side panel opens with Add Elements to Canvas. It includes four main categories:

Tables — drag existing tables onto the canvas, or click to add. Tables are grouped by size: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large.

Walls — add a solid Wall or thin dashed Separator.

Fixtures — add structural elements, openings, service areas, and decor such as doors, windows, bar, kitchen, restroom, cashier, POS, and plants.

Zone Badges — drag a zone label onto the canvas to mark areas such as Patio or VIP.

You can also use Search tables and fixtures... to find an item quickly.

Edit items after placing them

Select an item on the canvas to edit it.

Tables can be renamed, rotated, reshaped, and given a max capacity from the editor. Walls can be rotated, recoloured, labelled, and changed between horizontal and vertical. Fixtures can be rotated, labelled when supported, or removed.

💡 Tip: Use the main Tables page for minimum and maximum seating rules. Use the floor-plan editor for visual layout, shape, and placement.

Save your layout

After arranging the floor plan, select Save Canvas. While saving, the button changes to Saving.... When complete, Speako shows Floor plan saved successfully.

⚠️ Important: Moving items around the canvas is not enough by itself. Use Save Canvas before leaving the page if you want the layout changes to remain.
