Additional languages help your AI agent support customers who call in a language other than your primary language. This is useful for businesses with multilingual customers, tourist traffic, or locations in communities where more than one language is commonly spoken.

Turn on additional languages first

Go to AI Agent โ†’ Voice & Languages โ†’ Voice & Languages. In the Additional Languages card, turn on Enable Additional Languages.

When this is off, the language selector is disabled and shows Enable to add additional languages. When it is on, you can open the language panel and choose the languages your agent should understand.

Choose languages

Select the additional languages area to open the Additional languages panel. Use the search field to find a language by name, native name, or language code.

Languages you turn on appear under Selected. Other available languages appear under Available or All languages depending on what you have already selected.

Use the switch beside a language to enable or disable it. Select Done when you are finished choosing languages.

Assign voices where available

For some voice setups, each additional language can have its own voice. When that applies, the language row shows a voice selector after you enable the language. If a language has no available voices, the row shows No voices available for this language.

In other voice setups, the primary voice is reused across additional languages. In that case, the panel explains that you are choosing languages the agent should understand, and no separate voice selector is shown.

Review the summary

After you select languages, the Additional Languages card summarises what is enabled. If you choose up to three languages, it lists them by name. If you choose more than three, it shows the first few and adds how many more are enabled.

If additional language voices are assigned, the summary may also mention how many languages have a voice override. Use this summary as a quick check before saving.

Saving your changes

Turning on language detection, selecting additional languages, and assigning additional voices are all pending changes until you save. Use the Save your changes? banner to apply them.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Only enable languages your customers are likely to use. A smaller, accurate language set is usually better than enabling many languages that your business does not actively support.
