Adding knowledge from a URL is helpful when your business information already lives on a webpage, such as a services page, menu page, FAQ page, promotions page, or team page.
Start the import
Go to AI Agent → Knowledge Base → All Knowledge. Select Add on the knowledge item you want to update, then choose Add from URL.
Speako opens an Enter URL field. Paste the webpage address and select Import.
The field includes contextual placeholder examples such as:
https://yourcompany.com/serviceshttps://yourrestaurant.com/menuhttps://yourcompany.com/faqhttps://yourcompany.com/promotions
These are examples only. Use your own live webpage.
URL requirements
Speako checks that the URL is valid before importing. The URL must use http:// or https:// and must include a proper website hostname.
If the field is empty, Speako asks you to enter a URL. If the URL is not valid, it shows Invalid URL and asks for a valid URL.
Processing status
After you import, Speako processes the webpage. The knowledge card may show Processing..., Analyzing..., or Finalizing... until the content is ready.
If processing succeeds, the item becomes configured. If it fails, the card shows Failed and gives you Retry and Dismiss options.
Review imported content
Webpages are not always written in the best format for phone conversations. After importing, use Preview to review the content. Remove navigation text, repeated footers, outdated promotions, or wording that does not help customers.
⚠️ Important: Speako imports from the page you provide. If that webpage is outdated, the agent may learn outdated information. Keep the source page accurate or edit the knowledge after importing.
When URL import works best
Use URL import for focused pages that already answer one clear topic. A dedicated FAQ page, menu page, services page, or promotions page usually works better than a homepage that mixes many different messages.
If the webpage contains lots of unrelated sections, consider writing the knowledge manually instead. That gives you more control over what the agent learns and avoids pulling in text that customers do not need to hear.
After importing, treat the result as a draft. Clean it up before publishing if the page was written for browsing rather than for customer questions.
