AI-Generated Variations help you create alternative greeting wording without starting from a blank page. Speako generates two style options for each greeting type, while preserving supported variables such as {{business_name}} and {{recording_disclosure}}.
Where to generate variations
Open Greetings. At the top of the page, you'll see AI-Generated Variations with the description:
Let AI create multiple greeting variations to keep conversations fresh and natural. Works with your existing greetings or generates new ones from templates.
Select Generate with AI. While Speako works, the button changes to Generating....
What gets generated
Generating variations covers all four greeting types:
- Initial Greeting
- Return Customer Greeting
- After Hours Message
- Recording Disclosure
Speako creates two variations for each one. Each variation has a style label such as warm, concise, professional, casual, detailed, or enthusiastic.
If a greeting box is empty, Speako uses a default template as the starting point so you still receive suggestions.
Applying a variation
Generated options appear inside the relevant greeting card under AI Variations.
Each variation has:
- An eye icon to preview it
- A speaker icon to hear it
- Apply
- Dismiss
Select Apply to replace the current greeting text with that variation. Select Dismiss to remove the option without changing your greeting.
Applying a variation does not finish the update by itself. After applying the wording you want, use Save Changes in the bottom banner.
⚠️ Important: Review every variation before saving. AI suggestions can help with wording, but they may not perfectly match your business style, legal requirements, or customer expectations.
Variables are preserved
The variation generator is designed to preserve {{variable}} placeholders exactly. This matters because variables are replaced with real business, location, customer, after-hours, or recording-disclosure information when the greeting is used.
Still, check variable names before saving. If a variable is accidentally changed, the greeting may not fill in as expected.
When to use variations
Use generated variations when:
- Your greeting feels too stiff
- You want a warmer or shorter version
- You are setting up greetings for the first time
- You want multiple options to compare out loud
Avoid changing greetings too often if your callers or staff are already familiar with them. Consistency can be helpful, especially for regular customers.
