Greeting previews let you check how your message will look and sound before callers hear it. This is especially important for phone greetings, where wording that reads well can still sound too long, too formal, or unclear when spoken.
Text preview
Each greeting card has an eye icon. Select it to open a preview dialog.
The dialog title matches the greeting type, such as:
- Initial Greeting Preview
- Return Customer Greeting Preview
- After Hours Message Preview
- Recording Disclosure Preview
The dialog description says: Preview of how your greeting will appear to customers with actual business data.
This preview replaces variables with real details from the selected location. For example, {{business_name}} becomes your business name, and {{ai_agent_name}} becomes the AI Agent's name.
If the greeting includes {{after_hours_message}} or {{recording_disclosure}}, Speako uses the current text from those cards in the preview.
Audio preview
Each greeting card also has a speaker icon. Select it to open Audio Preview.
The dialog says: Listen to how your greeting will sound with AI voice. While the audio is being prepared, it shows Generating audio... or Loading audio....
When ready, the audio player appears with waveform and skip controls.
Why preview matters
Use preview before saving whenever you change:
- A greeting variable
- The recording disclosure
- A long greeting
- A greeting translated from another language
- A greeting generated or polished by AI
Text preview helps you catch missing or awkward variables. Audio preview helps you catch wording that sounds unnatural when spoken.
๐ก Tip: If a greeting feels too long in audio preview, shorten the first sentence. Callers usually decide whether to keep listening in the first few seconds.
What to check in audio
Listen for:
- Whether the AI Agent introduces itself clearly
- Whether the business name sounds natural
- Whether the recording disclosure is easy to understand
- Whether the greeting gives callers a clear next step
- Whether the tone fits your business
Preview does not save changes
Previewing is only a check. If you like the result, use Save Changes in the bottom banner. If you do not save, the greeting update will not be kept.
If preview or audio generation fails, review whether the greeting is empty or whether required related text, such as the after-hours message or recording disclosure, is missing.
