Voice previews let you hear a sample before your customers do. Use them whenever you are choosing a new voice, comparing accents, or checking whether a voice fits your business's phone experience.
Where previews are available
Go to AI Agent โ Voice & Languages โ Voice & Languages. In the Primary Voice card, each voice card includes a Preview button.
Additional language voices may also show a preview button inside the Additional languages panel when a language has its own selectable voice.
How previewing works
Select Preview on a voice card. Speako opens an audio player at the bottom of the page and starts playing the sample for that voice. The selected card changes to Previewing while the sample is active.
The audio player stays visible while you're listening. You can close it when you're finished.
Previewing a voice does not select it. It only lets you listen. To make the voice your agent's voice, choose Select on the voice card and then save your changes.
What to listen for
Short samples are useful, but listen with your real customers in mind:
- Is the voice clear over phone audio?
- Does the accent feel appropriate for your customer base?
- Does the pace feel calm enough for booking details?
- Would the voice sound natural saying your business name?
- Does it fit the tone you set under Personality?
๐ก Tip: If your business name, service names, staff names, or menu items are often mispronounced, choose the voice you prefer first, then use Pronunciations to teach Speako how to say those words.
Previewing pronunciation rules
On AI Agent โ Voice & Languages โ Pronunciations, you can preview how a custom pronunciation sounds using the currently selected voice. This is different from previewing a voice sample: it plays the word or phrase you entered, not the default voice sample.
Saving
Previewing does not create unsaved changes. Selecting a voice or changing language settings does. When the Save your changes? banner appears, choose Save Changes to apply those selections.
If you preview several voices and decide not to change anything, there is nothing to save. The saved voice only changes after you select a voice and confirm it in the banner.
