Call settings control how quickly your AI agent speaks, how long it waits in silence, and how long a call can last. These settings are useful when calls feel too rushed, too slow, or too open-ended.

Where to find call settings

Go to AI Agent → Voice & Languages → Call Settings.

The exact controls shown can vary by voice setup, but the customer-facing settings include speech speed, silence handling, and maximum call duration.

Speech Speed

Speech Speed adjusts how quickly the AI speaks. The slider runs from 0.70x to 1.20x.

  • Lower values make the voice slower and easier to follow.
  • Higher values make the voice faster and more efficient.

For booking calls, avoid making the voice too fast. Customers need time to hear dates, times, names, and confirmation details.

Silence End Call

Silence End Call controls whether Speako ends a call after the customer has been silent for a set amount of time.

When enabled, you can enter a timeout in seconds. The field accepts values from 1 to 300 seconds, and the page shows a message such as Call will end after 30 seconds of silence.

This helps prevent calls from staying open indefinitely if a customer hangs up silently or stops responding.

Max. Call Duration

Max. Call Duration sets the maximum length of a conversation in seconds. The slider runs from 100 to 1200 seconds, which is about 1.7 minutes to 20 minutes.

Use a longer duration if your customers often ask questions before booking. Use a shorter duration if most calls should be quick and focused.

⚠️ Important: If the maximum call duration is too short, genuine customer calls may end before the issue is resolved. If it is too long, inactive or unproductive calls can continue longer than necessary.

A practical starting point

If you are unsure what to choose, start conservatively:

  • keep speech speed close to normal
  • enable silence ending only with a timeout that gives customers enough time to respond
  • use a maximum call duration that covers your longest normal customer call

Then review real customer behaviour and adjust. These settings are not about making calls as short as possible; they are about keeping conversations comfortable while preventing calls from running longer than they should.

Saving changes

After changing call settings, select Save Changes in the bottom banner. These settings save together with voice, language, and pronunciation changes.
