Each location in Speako gets a dedicated phone number for AI-handled calls. Here's how phone numbers work with your locations.

How Phone Numbers Work

When you create a location, a phone number is automatically assigned:

  1. Speako looks for an available number matching your location's state
  2. If found, that local number is assigned
  3. If not, a number from your country is used
  4. The number is dedicated to this location's AI agent

Types of Phone Numbers

Your location has three phone-related fields:

AI Agent Phone (Automatic)

  • Purpose: The number customers call to reach your AI
  • Assigned: Automatically when you create the location
  • Editable: No โ€” this is managed by the system
  • Display: Shows in your location settings

Contact Phone (Your Business Number)

  • Purpose: Your regular business phone shown to customers
  • Assigned: You enter this manually
  • Editable: Yes โ€” update anytime
  • Display: Shown on booking page and confirmations

Fallback Phone (For Transfers)

  • Purpose: Where calls transfer when AI is unavailable
  • Assigned: You enter this manually
  • Editable: Yes โ€” update anytime
  • Use case: After-hours or when AI can't help

Setting Up Call Forwarding

To have your AI answer calls:

  1. Note your AI Agent Phone number from settings
  2. Set up call forwarding on your regular business line
  3. Forward calls to the AI Agent Phone number
  4. Calls will now be answered by your AI

Regional Phone Numbers

Speako tries to match phone numbers to your location's region:

  • Sydney location โ†’ Sydney area number (02)
  • Melbourne location โ†’ Melbourne area number (03)
  • Perth location โ†’ Perth area number (08) If a regional number isn't available, a valid number from your country is assigned.

Viewing Your Phone Numbers

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar
  2. Click on your location
  3. Find the phone number section
  4. Your AI Agent Phone is displayed (read-only)

Copying the Phone Number

To copy your AI Agent Phone:

  1. Locate the number in your settings
  2. Click the copy icon next to it
  3. The number is copied to your clipboard
  4. Use it to set up call forwarding

Multiple Locations

Each location gets its own phone number:

  • Location A has its own AI phone

  • Location B has a different AI phone

  • Callers reach the correct location's AI This means:

  • Each location can have different greetings

  • Calls are routed to the right AI agent

  • Analytics are tracked separately

Phone Number Issues

Number Not Assigned

In rare cases, a number may not be available:

  • Check back in a few minutes
  • Contact support if the issue persists

Wrong Region

If you need a specific regional number:

  • Contact support
  • Explain your regional requirement
  • They can help find an appropriate number
