Categories help organize your services into groups. This article explains how to create and manage service categories.
Accessing Categories
- Navigate to Service Management
- Click the Categories tab
- You'll see existing categories listed
Creating a New Category
To add a category:
- Click Add Category (or similar button)
- Enter the category name
- Choose a color
- Click Create The new category appears in your list and is available for assigning to services.
Category Name
Choose clear, descriptive names:
Good Examples
- "Hair Services"
- "Nail Treatments"
- "Massage Therapy"
- "Skincare"
- "Quick Services"
Less Effective
- "Category 1"
- "Misc"
- "Other" Names should help customers understand what's included.
Category Colors
Each category has a color for visual identification:
- Click the color picker
- Select a color
- The color displays as a tag/badge
Color Tips
- Use distinct colors so categories are easy to tell apart
- Consider color meaning (calm blues for relaxation, energetic colors for fitness)
- Keep colors consistent with your brand if possible
Editing Categories
To modify a category:
- Find the category in the list
- Click the edit option
- Update name or color
- Save changes Changes apply immediately. Services using this category show the updated name/color.
Deleting Categories
To remove a category:
- Find the category in the list
- Click delete
- Confirm the deletion
๐ก Note: Deleting a category removes it from all services that used it. Services aren't deleted, just uncategorized.
Category Organization
Plan your categories before creating them:
- List your services โ Write down everything you offer
- Group naturally โ How would customers think about them?
- Keep it manageable โ 3-7 categories is usually ideal
- Create categories โ Add them to Speako
- Assign services โ Link each service to its category
