Zones help organize your tables into logical sections. This article explains how to assign tables to zones for better management.

Why Organize by Zone?

Assigning Tables to Zones

When Creating a Table

  1. Open the Add Table form
  2. Fill in name and capacity
  3. Select a zone from the dropdown
  4. Create the table

For Existing Tables

  1. Find the table in your list
  2. Click to edit
  3. Find the zone field
  4. Select the desired zone
  5. Save changes

Viewing Tables by Zone

In your tables list:

  • Zone is displayed for each table
  • May be able to filter by zone
  • Zone color appears as a tag This helps you see which tables belong where.

Changing Zone Assignments

To move a table to a different zone:

  1. Edit the table
  2. Select the new zone
  3. Save changes The table now belongs to the new zone.

Unassigned Tables

Tables without a zone:

  • Still work for bookings
  • Not grouped in zone views
  • May be harder to find Best practice is to assign every table to a zone.

By Location

  • Indoor: Tables 1-10
  • Outdoor: Patio 1-5
  • Bar: Bar seats 1-8

By Experience

  • Main Dining: Standard tables
  • VIP: Premium tables
  • Private: Event spaces

By Capacity

  • Small Parties: 2-tops and 4-tops
  • Large Parties: 6-tops and booths

Bulk Zone Assignment

If reorganizing many tables:

  1. Edit each table individually
  2. Update zone assignments
  3. Verify changes in the tables list
  4. Check floor plan reflects updates

Zone and Booking Preferences

When your AI agent takes reservations:

  1. Customer may specify preference ("outdoor please")
  2. Agent filters tables by that zone
  3. Available tables in the zone are offered
  4. Booking is made in the preferred zone Not all customers have preferences—unspecified bookings use any available table.

Best Practices

  1. Assign all tables — Every table should have a zone
  2. Match physical layout — Zones should reflect reality
  3. Review periodically — Update as layout changes
  4. Keep zones balanced — Distribute tables logically
