What is Speako? Speako is an AI receptionist platform for restaurants and service businesses. Your AI receptionist answers your business phone, takes reservations or appointments, answers questions about your business, and transfers callers to a human when needed — 24/7.
Do I need to change my phone number? No. Speako works by forwarding your existing business phone number to the AI. Your customers continue calling the same number they always have. The AI answers on your behalf through call forwarding.
What types of businesses does Speako support? Speako supports two main business types:
- Restaurants — for table reservations, party sizes, zones, and shifts.
- Service businesses — for staff-based appointments, service durations, and rosters.
When you create your account, you select your business type, and Speako configures the booking experience accordingly.
Can I have multiple locations? Yes. You can add multiple AI receptionists (locations) to your account. Each AI receptionist handles one phone number and has its own settings. The number of locations you can have depends on your plan.
Does the AI work 24/7? Yes, by default the AI answers calls around the clock. You can configure it to only answer during certain hours if you prefer, but most businesses leave it active all the time — it can take after-hours bookings and answer common questions even when you're closed.
Will callers know they're talking to an AI? You can configure this as you choose. You can give the AI a name that makes it sound like a staff member, or explicitly mention "You've reached our AI receptionist." There's no rule requiring disclosure in all cases, but local laws may vary — check your local requirements.
What happens if the AI can't handle a call? The AI can transfer calls to a human if the caller requests it or if the AI can't complete the request. You configure a transfer phone number in AI Tools. If no transfer number is configured, the AI will acknowledge it can't help further and end the call.
Can I use Speako during the trial? Yes. The trial includes voice minutes so you can make real test calls and experience the AI in action. All features are available during the trial.
