Adding Holiday Closures

The holiday closures feature lets you mark public holidays and custom closure days so your AI receptionist knows when your business is closed — even if those days would otherwise fall within your normal operating hours.

Where to find it

  1. Go to AI Receptionists in the dashboard sidebar.
  2. Click your AI receptionist.
  3. Click Set Availability, then select Holidays & closures in the sidebar.

The Holiday Closures card

This page shows a card titled Holiday closures with:

  • A master on/off switch to enable or disable all holiday closures at once.
  • A list of recognised public holidays for the current year, each with its own toggle.

If no holidays are loaded, the page shows: No holidays found for [year].

If the page fails to load, you'll see: Failed to load holidays — Please try again later.

Marking a holiday as closed

  1. Browse the list of holidays for your region.
  2. Toggle on any holiday you want the AI to treat as a closure day.
  3. A Save Changes banner appears at the bottom of the page when you have pending toggle changes.
  4. Click Save Changes to confirm. A success toast will show: Holiday settings updated successfully.

Disabling all holiday closures

The master switch at the top of the card turns off all holiday closures at once. If you toggle this off, the AI will not treat any of the listed public holidays as closures — your weekly schedule applies as normal on those days.

This is useful if your business stays open on public holidays and you don't want the AI to trigger after-hours behaviour on those dates.

Re-enabling holiday closures

Toggle the master switch back on to re-enable all previously selected holiday closures. Individual holiday toggles retain their previous state when the master switch is turned back on.

💡 Tip: Review your holiday list at the start of each year to make sure the correct days are selected for your trading pattern. Some businesses close on all public holidays; others only close on a subset (e.g. only Christmas and New Year).

⚠️ Important: Holiday closures are region-based public holidays provided by the system. If your area has a public holiday that isn't in the list, use Date-specific hours to manually mark that day as closed instead.

How holiday closures affect your AI

On any day marked as a holiday closure, the AI receptionist will behave as if the location is closed — even if a caller rings during what would normally be operating hours. The AI uses your configured after-hours greeting and handles calls accordingly.
