Business Name and Legal Name
Your business name and legal name are stored in the Business Information page, found at Dashboard → Business Information. These two fields serve different purposes, so it helps to understand what each one does before you edit them.
Trading Name
The Trading Name is your public-facing business name — the name customers see when they search for you online, receive a confirmation message, or visit your booking page. It is the primary identifier Speako uses across the dashboard, your AI receptionist, and any customer-facing communication.
Rules:
- The trading name is required. You cannot save an empty value.
- It must be at least 2 characters long.
How to edit it:
- Go to Business Information in your dashboard.
- In the Company Names card, click the pencil icon next to your current trading name.
- Type the updated name in the text field.
- Click Save to apply, or Cancel to discard. A confirmation toast will appear when the change is saved successfully.
Company Legal Name
The Company Legal Name is the officially registered name of your business entity. This field is optional — you only need to fill it in if your trading name differs from the legal name on file with your government or registration body.
Rules:
- Leave it blank if your trading name and legal name are the same.
- If you do provide a legal name, it must be at least 5 characters long.
How to edit it:
- Click the pencil icon next to Company Legal Name in the Company Names card.
- Enter the full registered name.
- Click Save. The same success toast confirms the update.
Which name should I use where?

💡 Tip: Keep your trading name consistent with how you appear on Google Maps, social media, and your website so returning customers recognise you.
⚠️ Important: Your trading name is required. If you clear it and try to save, the field will show a validation error and the change will not go through.
Changes take effect immediately
Once saved, both names update across the dashboard straight away. If your AI receptionist greetings reference your business name by pulling it from the system, those will reflect the updated trading name the next time you publish your agent configuration.
