Speako automatically assigns phone numbers when you create locations. This article explains the assignment process.

Automatic Assignment

When you create a new location in Speako:

  1. The system checks available phone numbers
  2. It looks for numbers matching your state/region
  3. If found, a regional number is assigned
  4. If not, a number from your country is assigned

Regional Preference

Speako tries to match phone numbers to your location:

State Matching

If you're setting up a salon in Sydney:

  • System looks for NSW phone numbers first
  • Customer sees a Sydney-area number
  • Creates familiarity and trust

Country Fallback

If regional numbers are unavailable:

  • System assigns any available number from your country
  • You're notified of the region difference
  • The number still works perfectly

What You Receive

After assignment, you get:

  • A dedicated phone number for your AI agent
  • The number displayed in your dashboard
  • Instructions for setting up call forwarding

Limited Availability

Phone numbers are a finite resource:

  • Each number can only be assigned to one location
  • Popular regions may have limited availability
  • Numbers are assigned first-come, first-served

If No Numbers Are Available

In rare cases where no numbers are available:

  • Your location is still created
  • You're notified to contact support
  • Support will help provision additional numbers
