Call forwarding lets your customers reach your AI receptionist by dialling your existing business phone number. Here's how to set it up.

How It Works

When you sign up for Speako, your location is assigned an AI phone number. To connect it to your business, you forward calls from your existing business number to this AI number using your telecom provider's call forwarding feature.

Once active, any call to your business number is automatically answered by your Speako AI agent.

Step 1: Find Your AI Phone Number

Your AI phone number is assigned during onboarding (Step 4) when you first set up your account. You can find it at any time:

  1. Go to Dashboard โ†’ Settings
  2. Look for the AI Agent Phone Number card
  3. Click Copy to copy the number to your clipboard You can also find it in the sidebar under Your AI Number.

Step 2: Set Up Call Forwarding with Your Telecom Provider

Call forwarding is configured through your phone or telecom provider โ€” not inside Speako. The general steps are:

  1. Log in to your telecom provider's website or app
  2. Navigate to the Call Forwarding or Call Diversion settings
  3. Enter your Speako AI phone number as the forwarding destination
  4. Choose when to forward โ€” most users select All Calls or When Unanswered
  5. Save and activate

Step 3: Confirm in Speako

After configuring forwarding with your provider:

  1. Go to Dashboard โ†’ Settings
  2. Click Set up call forwarding
  3. Check the box: I have set up call forwarding from my phone number
  4. Click Confirm This marks your setup as complete so your dashboard reflects the correct status.

Step 4: Test It

Place a test call to your business number from a different phone. Your Speako AI agent should answer. If it doesn't, double-check:

  • The forwarding number matches your AI phone number exactly
  • Call forwarding is activated (not just saved) with your provider
  • Your Speako subscription is active

Can I forward only some calls?

That depends on your telecom provider. Some providers support conditional forwarding (e.g. forward when busy or after a set number of rings).

Does Speako provide the business phone number?

No. Speako provides the AI phone number. You keep your existing business number and forward calls from it to the AI number.

Can I stop forwarding later?

Yes. Disable call forwarding through your telecom provider at any time. Calls will go back to ringing your phone as normal.

What if I don't have a business phone number yet?

You can share your Speako AI phone number directly with customers โ€” no forwarding needed.
