Job titles are labels that describe a team member's role, such as Stylist, Consultant, Therapist, or Business Analyst. They help your team organise providers and make team profiles easier to understand.
Job titles are available in the Team area for service businesses.
Where to create job titles
Open the Job Titles page from the Team section. Use Add Job Title. If there are no job titles yet, Speako shows No job titles yet and Create your first job title.
You can also create a job title while assigning job titles to a team member.
The creation sheet is titled Create Job Title and explains that job titles describe staff roles and are shown on staff profiles and booking confirmations.
What you choose
When creating a job title, choose:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Name | The role label your team will see |
| Colour | The colour used for the label in Team |
Use short, recognisable labels. A good job title should help your team understand what the provider does without needing extra explanation.
Examples:
- Stylist
- Senior Stylist
- Consultant
- Massage Therapist
- Technician
Avoid over-specific titles
Job titles work best as reusable role labels. Avoid creating titles for temporary notes, one-off responsibilities, or schedule details.
For example, Saturday Cover is usually better handled through availability, while Senior Stylist is a useful title.
💡 Tip: Keep your job-title list small enough that assigning titles stays easy. If two labels mean almost the same thing, choose one shared label.
After creating a job title
After the job title exists, assign it to team members from the team list, the team member profile, or while creating a team member.
The Job Titles page shows how many team members use each title and previews assigned team members. This makes it easier to clean up unused titles later.
If a title is only used for one person, that can still be fine. The goal is not to make every title generic; the goal is to keep the list understandable for the people who manage bookings and staff profiles.
