Service duration tells Speako how long an appointment should last. In the current Team setup, duration is handled on the service itself — not as a separate per-team-member override in the Team member profile.
That means if a service is set to 60 minutes, Speako treats that service duration as the booking length when checking appointment availability for assigned team members.
Where duration comes from
Team member profiles show assigned services with their duration and price. The Services tab can display a duration such as 1h or 30m, or Not set if no duration is configured.
The duration shown there comes from the service setup. To change the normal duration for a service, edit the service in the Services area.
What Team controls
The Team area controls whether a person can perform a service and when they are available. It does not currently expose a separate field such as "Sarah takes 45 minutes for this service while Alex takes 60 minutes" inside the team member service assignment flow.
Use Team to manage:
- which services the person can perform
- weekly working hours
- date-specific availability
- other-location visits
- job titles and profile details
Use Services to manage:
- service name
- description
- duration
- price
- active service setup
⚠️ Important: Do not rely on Team to create different appointment lengths per provider unless that option is visible in your dashboard. Use the service duration as the source of truth.
What if providers need different durations?
If two providers genuinely need different appointment lengths, use a setup that is visible and manageable in your dashboard. For example, you may choose to create separate services with clear names if that matches your business process.
Only do this when the customer-facing wording stays clear. Avoid creating confusing duplicate services just to work around scheduling.
How this affects booking availability
When customers or the AI Agent look for times, Speako checks whether the selected service fits within available staff time. If the service duration is wrong, availability may look too open or too restricted.
